1. SANRIO Hello Kitty Town

Is your child (or inner child) in love Hello Kitty? Come and visit the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town theme park in Johor Bahru. Here, you can meet Hello Kitty herself and go for a tour of her home. Your kids will enjoy going for a spin on the Hello Kitty teacup ride, and there are live stage performances complete with music and dance for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t forget to take a couple of memorable photos with Hello Kitty and the various other characters of the town!

2. Angry Birds Activity Park

The hit mobile game, Angry Birds, comes to life at this 26,000 sq.ft indoor park at Komtar JBCC (Johor Bahru City’s Centre), right beside Johor Bahru City Square. With a wide variety of games and attractions, from the Angry Bird Go! Kart Track to the Lazer Bird Scoot, there’s fun to be had for toddlers, kids, teenagers and even adults. There’s even a parents lounge designed for tired parents to take a break in while their children enjoy the attractions.

3. Legoland Malaysia

The perfect destination for a family holiday, Legoland Malaysia Resort comprises the Legoland Theme Park, Water Park, and Hotel, all in one Lego-themed resort. With over 70 hands-on rides, slides, shows and attractions, it is both the first Legoland park in Asia and the largest in the world. The park is designed to be kid-friendly, especially for families with children aged 2 to 12. If you plan to cover the entire park in one visit, you might want to book a Lego-themed room for an overnight stay. Seasonal performances are available here so be sure to check the park’s schedules ahead of time.

4. Thomas Town – Puteri Harbour

Thomas Town is located right next to Hello Kitty Town. This is the theme park where kids can catch a ride on Bertie The Bus, or a trip on Harold’s Helitours. They can also build houses with Bob the Builder and play games with Pingu the penguin. Take a tour of Knapford Station aboard Thomas, everyone’s favourite tank engine! Last but not least, join in with Barney the Dinosaur’s live sing-a-long show and have an unforgettable time here at Thomas Town.

5. Dinosaur Alive Water Theme Park

The Dinosaur Alive Water Theme Park is located on the 7th floor of KSL Hotel & Resort, which is only a 5-minute drive from the Singapore-Johor Causeway. If you happen to decide to stay in Johor for the weekend, consider staying at the hotel as entry to the theme park is free for hotel guests. The dinosaurs here will move their heads and growl, which might amaze the little ones. Although there are only 3 slides, kids will have a great time here as the place is not as crowded as it is at most other water theme parks.

6. Desaru Coast Waterpark

Just an hour’s drive from Singapore, Desaru Coast Waterpark has a full range of chilling and thrilling rides, as well as one of the largest wave pools in the world. One of the most popular rides here is the Kraken’s Revenge, a combination of roller coaster and splash ride that takes you 30 metres up on a little boat before bringing you back down with a satisfying splash. Simply perfect for a short getaway over the weekend.
