1. Smööbar

Smööbar is found not far off from both Dhoby Ghaut and Bencoolen station. With $15 house pour jugs and $28 yakult soju jugs, it’s a classic drinking spot for larger parties who are looking for more than just beer and shots.  We recommend their signature Mentaiko fries to go along with drinks, which are also affordable!

The bar is also cash-lite, utilising a payment app that eliminates the need to call for the servers. There’s even a $5-off code for every $50 spent! If you’re planning to drop by on busy nights, do remember to call in ahead to book a reservation.

Another classic drinking joint found not too far off Smööbar, Idle is making its mark in the industry with its superbly priced liquid buffet, which runs from 5pm-11pm and offers free flow house pour alongside any promotions.

Idle charges different prices for ladies and men, and special promotions depending on the day of the week. On Mondays, ladies pay $20 nett while men pay $25 nett, and there is free-flow wine on top of the house pour. We recommend their smoked chicken and bacon pizza after a couple of drinks!

4. Sque

Located near Clarke Quay Central, Sque is a favourite amongst the after-office crowd with great affordable beer pints and good food alongside. Happy hour is from 11:30am to 7pm and 9pm to 11pm for all draught beers, wine selections, selected cocktails and mocktails, during which drinks will cost only around $10!

We recommend the London Pride or Weihenstephan for those who prefer light beers. Their wines and cocktails offer a good alternative for those with less of a taste for the bitterness of beer. Their signature beef cubes are a must-try while you’re at Sque!

5. Kanpai 789

Kanpai is a mega favourite amongst university students looking for cheap beer towers. It boasts all-day $40 beer towers, offering Kronenbourg Blanc amongst other beers. They offer a decent selection of finger food and main dishes; We recommend trying their truffle fries alongside drinks. Alternatively, try their shoestring fries. Fried to a crisp and drizzled with truffle oil, they make a great complement to the taste of any alcoholic beverage.

Do call and book a reservation if you plan to visit on weekends and wednesday nights, when they are the busiest. Alternatively, their other branches, as well as their sister bar Cocotto, also serve similar menus!
