Nobody is perfect, but we can try to nurture our children to be better people. When educating children at home, many parents have experienced unpleasant situations where they realize that their child’s behaviour has changed, but they can’t understand where the problem came from.
Actually, a child’s behaviour is a reflection of their parents’ behaviour.
Many parents have the misconception that family education is the development of children’s intelligence, and send them to classes even at the tender age of 2-3 years. By 4-5 years, many parents have enrolled their kids into dancing, taekwondo, swimming, speech and drama classes and so on.
In reality, studies have proven that too much pressure on a child’s education has adverse consequences to their development. Family education should focus on a child’s personality. Children are actually very vulnerable and sensitive and are easily affected by those around them. Parents should thus seek to understand that the problem may be on the parents themselves.
In this article, we’ll look at 10 signs of bad parenting, without realizing it:
#1 If a child behaves rudely, it is learnt from parents or others living with them.
#2 If your child is secretive, the reason is that you overreact to what they say.
#3 If a child doesn’t respect others’ feelings, the reason might be that you always order them around – not placing importance on their feelings.
#4 If your child gets angry quickly, the reason might be that you do not praise them enough. They only get attention by misbehaving.
#5 If your child is jealous, the reason might be that you compare them with others all the time.
#6 If your child is too timid, it is because you help them too quickly. Don’t remove every obstacle from their path.
#7 If you buy everything for your children but they still take things that don’t belong to them, it is because you don’t let them choose.
#8 If a child does not stand up for himself, it is because you have been disciplining them in public from a young age.
#9 If your child has poor self esteem, it is because you advise them more than you encourage them
#10 If your child is lying, it means you have overreacted to their mistakes in the past
