A weekend staycation is a great way to get away from our fast-paced city and unwind yourself. One of the closest and most convenient destinations to consider for a staycation is none other than Johor Bahru. As a city, it has plenty to offer and is definitely worth a trip to visit! If you’re still wondering what there is to see and do, wonder no more! Here are 9 Things to Do to Make Your Johor Bahru Trip Worthwhile.
1. Legoland
If you’re traveling with children or you’re just a big kid at heart (no shame in that), be sure to include Legoland in your itinerary! Legoland was first opened in 2012 and is the first international theme park in Malaysia, offering up to 40 different interactive rides, live shows and attractions. Some of the top activities include mad roller coaster rides, the NinjaGo Live Show, and the adjoining water park. This amusement park is a great destination for a fun family trip, and is bound to be a great experience for both children and adults alike. Do plan your visit in advance, so that you can hit up all the attractions you want to cover. You can typically expect to spend an entire day and night here if you plan to visit all the rides at least once. You can also spend an unforgettable night in the Lego-themed hotel with the whole family after a day of fun and awesomeness!

Make a pit stop at the oldest bakery in Johor, Hiap Joo Bakery, which has been operating since 1919. It’s a family-owned business that has been run by three generations of the Lim family up till this day. The bakery has maintained its use of a fire wood oven to encapsulate the fragrance of its cakes. The bakery frequently draws an impressive crowd of patrons, who form queues under the scorching hot sun for the bakery’s most popular item, its Signature Banana Cake.

This bakery also uses a wood fire oven to bake its pastries, and they are loved for their flaky curry puffs and homemade kaya! Their curry puffs are best consumed fresh and hot off the oven, but don’t even think about leaving without getting a few more buns and pastries to go!
