A gastronomic experience is doubly memorable within an ambience that keeps you near to stunning foliage and palm trees. The Botanic Gardens is home to The Halia, a Halal-certified cafe located right in the one-hectare Ginger Garden. Enjoy the warmth of a beautiful sunset and refreshing greenery in this spot that is just within close proximity to the city.

The good news is that they have a totally new breakfast/brunch menu for you to choose from. From sweet and savoury dishes like Freshly Home-baked Milk Rolls and Smashed Avocado on Toasted Sourdough to Asian-inspired bites like Chilli Crab Eggs, you’ll find something that will brighten your weekend.

Feel like having a burger? Why not give Working Title a try? Famous for their burgers, Working Title’s interior design has a cool hipster vibe. Did I mention how thick and juicy their patties are? No wonder their customers always come back for more.

Not a burger-lover? There are other selections on their menu. Do try their Smoked Salmon Ciabatta, Working Big Breakfast, Eggs Burgerdict or their Ribena Chicken Wing. You surely won’t regret it. Of course, you mustn’t miss out on their dessert, especially their Honey-Lavender Cheesecake. So yummy!

What is Fika? Fika is a time to enjoy bonding with friends and family. It is a few minutes of sharing good vibes over warm drinks and light meals. Fika Swedish Cafe and Bistro is one of those rare Halal cafes where you can enjoy this Fika experience! Have your fill of Swedish meatballs and Panbiff and Pytt I Panna. Its clean, well-lit interior offers no-frills relaxation where you can enjoy good food and good conversations.

Also, don’t forget to try their desserts, especially their Swedish Pancake. Although it looks more like a crepe, it has just the right amount of sweetness with its chocolate syrup.

The Malayan Council is located along 71 Bussorah Street. This small cafe has a very quiet and cosy environment. It serves superb Malay-Western fusion food. Each dish comes in a generous portion with a different unique taste. Don’t miss their highly recommended menu of Smoked Duck Cili Padi Pasta, Putu Piring Cake and Onde Onde Cake.

If you’re a seafood lover, their Singapore Chilli Lobster ($48) might be the right choice for you. The lobster and mussels drenched in their special chilli crab-style sauce is overwhelmingly good. Penny University is one of the most well-known Halal cafes in Singapore, attracting a strong weekend crowd. Standing strong along the stretch of East Coast Road, this artisanal cafe offers some of the best brunches in Singapore. Various food options are available and prices are reasonable compared to other cafes.

The coffee beans are sourced from local coffee roasters. Cakes and bread are baked fresh every day. You must try their recommended menu of Full English Breakfast, Eggs Benedict and Turkish Eggs when you visit the cafe.

Due to its affordable price and good quality food, do note that the wait will be very long during weekends. If you want to avoid the long queue, do make sure to get there early. Good luck!

Do you know Flavour Flings is the place where Singapore’s nationwide Salted Egg Yolk phenomenon started? Located in the neighbourhood of Hougang Avenue 1, this heartland cafe offers a variety of hearty brunches ranging from the American breakfast to other Western comfort food like pancakes, pasta, burgers and croissants.

Good news! This Halal-certified cafe’s signature dish — Salted Egg Croissant — has now upgraded to a whole new level. They have introduced a new Raclette Cheese dish, whereby the salted egg croissant is covered with a layer of melted Swiss raclette cheese. The unique taste of salted egg yolk combined with the savoury melted cheese is just perfect for your taste buds. Do give it a try when you drop by!

With only a few tables, this cafe is not big and will become crowded during lunch. However, you can come early at 11 am to secure a table. Do note that the cafe is closed between 4 pm to 5.30 pm.

Claimed to be the only Halal European-influenced cafe in town, I AM… Cafe is one of the pioneer hipster Halal cafes and currently has three outlets in Singapore, in Haji Lane, Tampines and Bukit Batok.

It all started after the owner went for a trip to Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. He fell in love with the scenic surroundings and the Dutch culture during his trip and decided to set up a cafe when he returned to Singapore. Bringing this love back from Amsterdam, the owner named this cafe “I AM…”, which is inspired by Amsterdam’s city icon.

The cafe serves various Dutch-inspired food. Their signature dishes — the Amsterdam favourite Fries & Mayo and popular meatball snack Bitterballen — are must-tries. Arranged enticingly behind glass panels are exquisite European breads, pastries and cakes baked fresh daily.
